PDA Comments on FDA Rule

To: PSCFO

From: Jay Howes, Deputy Secretary, PDA

On behalf of Secretary Greig, attached are the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s final comments on the first two proposed rules under FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The first attachment includes our comments on the proposed rule “Standards for Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption” (Produce Rule). The second attachment includes our comments on the proposed rule “Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food” (Preventive Controls Rule). Also attached is a document providing detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to submit your comments.

We thank you for your input and extensive dialogue over the past few months. Please feel free to use our comments and tailor them to create a personalized document for your respective organization to submit to the FDA. It is important to personalize your comments – FDA reads every submission, and unique comments often have the most impact.

Submit (or postmark) your comments by the deadline: November 15, 2013. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact me at erins@pa.gov or Deputy Secretary Howes at jahowes@pa.gov.
